Amber as the other stones should not have contact with hairspray or perfume, under their influence they loose thier shine.

Amber should be cleaned with the chalk soked in denatured alcohol, oiled and polished with the deerskin. Unpolished amber can be only clean with denatured alcohol, then oiled.

Here is the simplest way to clean amber:

1. Dip soft, clean cloth in warm soapy water and carefully squeez.

2. Wipe amber with cloth. Then dry it with a soft cloth and polish all parts dry. Remember that moistured amber tarnish.

3. Rub the amber with olive oil or almond oil, using a soft brush.

4. At the end remember to polish it dry with a soft cloth.

The best way to keep amber in good condition is to clean it after each use.

Ivory is porous, so do not use water to clean it. Although you can use a little bit of hydrogen peroxide or lemon juice with salt.S crub it with a soft brush, then polish it with suede leather.

They must be protected against mechanical damage and harmful substances, like all the other natural stones. In addition they should be protected from the sun, because, due to their structure under the influence of the sun they fade and lose the luster.
